The Duskbloods Release Date: Trackers Now Point to December 31, 2026 — But Is It Official?

Since our September Direct recap, major game databases — including IGN's own listing — have begun populating a concrete release date for The Duskbloods: December 31, 2026. Here's what's actually confirmed, what's still a placeholder, and how it lines up with our December 3 prediction.

TL;DR: IGN's official game page and several major trackers now list December 31, 2026 for The Duskbloods. It's the first concrete date since our September Direct recap said "still no date" — but Nintendo and FromSoftware haven't confirmed it. Treat it as the current best guess, not a release date.

What Actually Changed

Until late September, every public listing for The Duskbloods carried only the vague "2026" window that parent company Kadokawa reaffirmed in its financial reports. That started to shift as databases filled in:

  • IGN's game page lists The Duskbloods with a release date of Dec. 31, 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2.
  • thegameextras.com shows 31 December 2026, flagged as verified on September 17, 2026, sourced from IGDB and Wikipedia.
  • Other regional trackers have begun mirroring the same December 31 figure.

This is the first time a major Western outlet's listing shows a specific day instead of just the year. For a game that went silent at the September Direct, it's a real change in the signal.

Is December 31 Official? Not Yet

Quick reality check: neither Nintendo nor FromSoftware has announced December 31, 2026.

The only thing either company has ever committed to is a 2026 window, worldwide, on Switch 2. So keep your skepticism handy — for one simple reason:

December 31 is the most common placeholder date in game databases. When a studio knows a game ships "this year" but hasn't locked a day, trackers often default to December 31 as a stand-in for "by end of year." We already saw this movie with the September 24 false alarm, when The Guardian printed a date Nintendo walked back through Eurogamer.

Honest read: a late-December 2026 launch is now the most-cited expectation among trackers, but it is not confirmed. The cluster around December 31 mostly tells us the smart money expects a holiday-window release, not a slip into 2027.

How It Lines Up With Our December 3 Prediction

Back on September 6, we predicted December 3, 2026 off Nintendo's release cadence and the September showcase timing. The newly surfacing December 31 date doesn't contradict that — it brackets it.

Both point to the same conclusion: Nintendo is holding The Duskbloods for the back half of December, almost certainly as a holiday-marquee title for Switch 2. Whether it lands December 3 (our pick, ahead of the Christmas rush) or December 31 (the trackers' year-end default) depends entirely on when Nintendo slots its marketing beat. December 3 gives the game breathing room before the holidays; December 31 makes it a literal New Year's Eve finale.

What to Watch Next

Window What matters
Oct–Nov A standalone Direct or press-release date drop
December The Game Awards is a natural fallback slot if Nintendo skips a dedicated show
Pre-launch Another demo or beta would signal the build is stabilizing after August's server issues
End of 2026 If no official date lands, the window almost certainly moves to 2027

The Bottom Line

The story moved from "no date" to "trackers say December 31" in about a week. That's progress — but it isn't confirmation. Until Nintendo or FromSoftware says the words, treat December 31, 2026 as the current best guess: a holiday-window release that fits everything we know, and one that sits comfortably alongside our own December 3 forecast.

We'll update this page the moment an official date drops.
